While breaking in a new setter, Pacific defeated rival Linfield 3-1 Tuesday night inside the Stoller Center to open Northwest Conference play.
Sophomore
Rorie Frias, called up from the JV team after an injury to starting setter
Maya Deferme, had 35 assists in her first varsity match.Â
The Boxers got off to a strong start, easily winning the first set 25-12. Down 5-1 early in the second set, Pacific rallied to win 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead.
After Linfield took the third set 25-15, the Boxers rebounded to capture the fourth set 25-18 to finish off the Wildcats and start 1-0 in the NWC.
Sophomore
Emma Velchek had 15 kills, 14 digs and two aces. Senior
Mara Murphy finished with 12 kills, two aces and 11 digs. Senior
Kayla Craft added seven kills, two aces and six blocks.
SeniorÂ
Victoria Patnaude recorded seven blocks. Senior
Danica Nelson posted 22 digs.Â
The Boxers improved to 5-3 overall with the win and snapped a two-game losing streak against Linfield after dropping both games last season.
