Pacific twice came from behind to pull even with undefeated Whitman, but a late goal in the 83rd minute handed the Boxers a hard-fought 3–2 loss Sunday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
After falling behind in the 33rd minute, Pacific answered quickly out of halftime. In the 47th minute,
Cole Affolter slotted home a pass from
Nico Lomanto to level the match at 1–1.
Whitman regained the lead midway through the second half, but the Boxers again found a response when
Aidan Pierias converted in the 77th minute off an assist from
Adam Landy.
The visitors ultimately found the winner less than six minutes later, as Whitman went back on top for good.
Whitman held a 15–6 advantage in total shots and 8–4 edge in shots on goal, but Pacific continued to threaten late, earning eight corner kicks in the match. Goalkeeper
Henry Shattuck turned away five shots to keep the Boxers within striking distance.
Affolter's goal was his third of the season, while Pierias notched his first. Lomanto recorded his third assist of the year.
