Despite a strong defensive effort and several quality scoring chances, the Pacific women's soccer team came up short in a 1-0 loss to Whitworth on Saturday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, the Pirates broke through in the 65th minute for the game's only goal.
Pacific generated 10 total shots, matching Whitworth's total, and put four on target. The Boxers pressured throughout the final 20 minutes, including several late looks inside the penalty area, but couldn't find the equalizer.
Goalkeeper Kylie Pascual recorded six saves for Pacific in another solid performance between the posts, keeping the Boxers within striking distance until the final whistle.
Cyd Sugiyama had two shots on goal to lead Pacific's attack.
