A pair of first-half goals lifted the Pacific women's soccer team to a 2–1 Northwest Conference victory over Whitman on Sunday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
Pacific wasted little time getting on the board when Mirella Garcia found the back of the net in the seventh minute, finishing off a setup from Gwendolyn Saing to give the Boxers an early advantage.
Whitman answered just six minutes later to even the match at 1-1, but Pacific responded quickly. In the 21st minute, Rissalyn Hara regained the lead for the Boxers with a well-placed strike that would stand as the game-winner.
From there, Pacific's defense tightened up, holding the Blues scoreless over the final 70 minutes. Goalkeeper Kylie Pascual made three saves to preserve the win as the Boxers fended off a late Whitman push.
Pacific finished with four shots—all on target—while Whitman recorded 11 shots, including five on goal. The Boxers also earned a 3–0 advantage in corner kicks.
With the win, Pacific improved to 3-3-6 in conference play.
