NEWBERG — Despite a strong night from junior
Emma Velchek, the Pacific volleyball team came up short on the road Tuesday, falling 3-1 at George Fox in Northwest Conference action.
Velchek led the Boxers with 18 kills and 11 digs, posting a .279 hitting percentage while recording her third double-double of the season.
Justyce Schilz added five kills and four blocks, while
Kayla-Jane Padayao paced the offense with 16 assists.
Rorie Frias posted a season-high 14 digs.
After dropping the opening set 20-25, Pacific used a 7-0 run to take control of the second set. The Boxers had seven chances at set point before Velchek closed out the Bruins with a kill to secure a 25-23 win.
George Fox used a 10-1 run to take the third set 25-17 and then finished off the Boxers 25-19 in the fourth.
The Bruins recorded 15 aces to Pacific's five. The Boxers had seven service errors.
With the loss, Pacific dropped to 1-6 in the Northwest Conference and 4-8 overall.
