Trailing by three touchdowns entering the fourth quarter, the Pacific football team got off the mat to get within a single score with 6:31 remaining. But the Boxers could not complete the comeback, falling 28-21 to Lewis & Clark on Saturday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
Pacific struck first when
Kaden Huppin returned an interception 40 yards to give the Boxers an early 7-0 lead. However, the Pioneers responded with 28 unanswered points to take a commanding 28-7 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Pacific quarterback
Keaton Smith connected with
Josiah Chaffin for touchdowns of 10 and 41 yards to get within 28-21. But Lewis & Clark put the game away with a 14-play drive to run out the clock.
The Pioneers had 450 total yards, including 244 on the ground. Lewis & Clark converted 7 of 13 third downs. The Boxers, who were 4-for-10 on third down, finished with 251 total yards.Â
Pacific running back
Brody Bantolina had 122 yards on 20 touches in his final game with the Boxers. Smith completed 11 of 15 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns.
Byson Vasquez led Pacific's defense with 15 total tackles, including nine solos. Huppin and
Nehemiah Faleulu each recorded 10 tackles.
The Boxers finish the 2025 season 2-5 in the Northwest Conference and 3-7 overall.
