Rory Coughlan will remember his first collegiate hit.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, the Pacific sophomore laced a single to center field, scoring
Vincent Lagatta and
Zander Ditona for a walk-off 15-14 Northwest Conference victory Sunday afternoon.
Like the series, the deciding game three went back-and-forth between the Boxers and Loggers. After Puget Sound scored two runs in the top of the first, Pacific answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning.
Down 11-7, the Boxers rallied with six runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 13-11 lead.
Pacific junior
Matt Palmateer struck out the first two Puget Sound hitters to lead off the top of the ninth. However, the Loggers scored three runs to take a 14-13 lead entering the bottom of the inning.
After the first two Boxer hitters were retired,
Benjamin Lewis and Lagatta hit back-to-back singles to keep Pacific's hopes alive.
Riz Collado was then hit by a pitch to load the bases for Coughlan.
Lagatta was 3-for-5 with a walk, four RBIs and three runs.
Eight different Puget Sound pitchers took the mound in game three.
