WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- For the second straight season, the Pacific women's tennis team will play for the Northwest Conference championship.
The No. 2 Boxers defeated No. 3 George Fox 4-2 Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the NWC tournament.
Pacific started the match strong with
Cassidy Binder and
Chloe Takahashi winning 6-0 at No. 1 doubles and
Sofia Mazzola and
Stella Nishimura winning 6-2 at 2 doubles to capture the doubles point.
Binder then defeated Riley Bobkiewicz 6-1, 6-1 at 1 singles and Nishimura topped Shanah Denham 6-0, 6-4 at 3 singles to give the Boxers a 3-0 advantage.
Mazzola clinched the match for Pacific, edging Sophie Denham 7-6, 0-6, 6-3 at 4 singles.
Next: The Boxers will play No. 1 Whitman on Saturday at 10 a.m. for a spot in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament.Â
