The Pacific men's soccer team will look to build off its best season in eight years.
Â
"We lost some pretty important players, but we retain the spine of our team for the most part," said Pacific head coach
Brandon Porter of the Boxers, who finished 9-8-3 last season, their most wins since 2016. Â
Â
"Most of our defenders are the same. We have some good depth in our midfield, and we have a lot of forwards returning."
Â
Seniors
Garrett Heuett and
Camden Wyatt, both All-Northwest Conference selections last season, return to lead the Boxers in 2025.Â
Â
Heuett, a 6-foot-5 center back from Spokane, Wash., led Pacific with five goals last season, all on set pieces.Â
Â
Senior
Adam Landy, a forward from Wilsonville, returns after scoring four goals last season.Â
Â
"We'll be spread out pretty evenly, with Adam probably leading the charge for us," Porter said of the Boxer attack.Â
Â
"We expect Adam to have a pretty good season. He's really hungry."
Â
Junior
Nico Lomanto, a transfer from Lake Forest College, gives the Boxers another dynamic player up front.Â
Â
Freshmen
Trenton Zimmermann and
Owen Watson have made strong first impressions.Â
Â
"We have some nice freshmen coming in, kind of all across the field," Porter said. "This group we have right now is very talented, just less experienced overall."Â
Â
The biggest change will come at goalkeeper after the graduation of four-year starter
Zach Aderinto.Â
Â
The Boxers have added three young keepers – a sophomore and two freshmen.Â
Â
"That is going to be a fun battle for all of the newcomers," Porter said.Â
Â
Pacific, picked to finish seventh in the Northwest Conference preseason coaches poll, opens the 2025 season Saturday in California against La Verne.Â
Â
"Hopefully, they can carry on with the blue collar, tough, gritty defensive structure that we've always had," Porter said. "That's always kind of what we've been. With the understanding that we have to be very practical and pragmatic about it.Â
Â
"It's a fun group to work with, very coachable, just got to get them on the same page very quickly."
