The Pacific women's soccer team opened its 2025 season Friday night at Hanson Stadium, falling 2–1 to visiting Chapman University.
The Panthers struck first in the 27th minute when Jenna Urrabazo found the back of the net off a feed from Delaney Kitchens. Chapman doubled its lead midway through the second half as Jana Komposch converted in the 68th minute to make the score 2–0.
The Boxers responded late. Sophomore Rissalyn Hara cut the deficit in half in the 85th minute, finishing a free kick from junior Katelyn Sanders to ignite the Pacific attack. Despite the late surge, Pacific could not find the equalizer.
Hara paced the Boxers with four shots, including three on goal, while goalkeeper Kylie Pascual kept Pacific within striking distance by recording six saves.
Chapman held an 18–7 advantage in total shots, but the Boxers showed resilience, outshooting the Panthers 4–3 in the final 20 minutes.
Pacific (0–1–0) will look to bounce back Sunday when the Boxers travel to Eugene to take on Bushnell.
