Boxers allow two second-half goals in loss at Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Pacific men's soccer team played Whitman even through 45 minutes, but the Blues struck twice in the second half to earn a 2-0 Northwest Conference victory on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless opening half, Whitman broke through in the 56th minute when Kevin Serrano found the back of the net off a pass from Henry Pierce. The hosts doubled their lead in the 80th minute as William Miranda-Ortiz converted a setup from Adrian Valencia to put the match out of reach.

The Boxers generated chances throughout, finishing with 10 shots and four on goal, but could not find an equalizer. Freshman goalkeeper Kobi Miyamoto made three saves in net to keep Pacific within striking distance. Whitman held a 14-10 advantage in total shots.

Next: Pacific is back in action Sunday afternoon at Whitworth.
