BROWNWOOD, Texas -- Pacific opened the 2025 football season Thursday evening with a 21-13 loss at Howard Paryne.
The Boxers never led in the game as Howard Payne marched down the field on its first offensive possession. The Yellow Jackets completed a 16-play, 82-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead with 3:45 remaining in the first quarter.
Pacific kicker
Isaac Ahmed scored the Boxers first points of the season, making a 35-yard field goal with 9:57 remaining in the second quarter.
With Pacific trailing 14-3 at halftime,
Brody Bantolina added a 2-yard touchdown run to get the Boxers within 14-10 with 10:22 to go in the third period.
But Howard Payne answered with a 18-play, 73-yard touchdown drive to stretch its lead to 21-10 with 11:53 remaining in the game.
After Ahmed connected on a 30-yard field goal with 7:21 to go, the Boxer offense drove inside the Howard Payne 15-yard line before turning the ball over on downs with 1:11 remaining.
Sophomore quarterback
Makana Kamaka-Brayce provided most of the Pacific offense, completing 10 of 19 passes for 123 yards.
Riley Camarillo caught 3 passes for 46 yards.Â
Bantolina rushed for 25 yards on 12 carries and had three receptions for 15 yards. The Boxer offense was held to 174 total yards on 52 plays.
Junior
Kaden Huppin recorded 11 tackles to lead Pacific's defense.
