Late 3s snap Boxers winning streak at Lewis & Clark

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific men's basketball team took an 11-point lead with just over 10 minutes to go. But Lewis & Clark heated up from 3 to end the Boxers winning streak.

The River Otters finished 19-for-40 from behind the 3-point arc to edge Pacific 87-83 Friday night.

Tied at 75-75, Lewis & Clark grabbed the lead for good on a 3-pointer with 2:41 to go.

After the River Otters buried another 3-pointer to extend their lead to 6 points with 1:33 remaining, Max Vacco made two free throws and Lucas Gray knocked down a jump shot to get Pacific within 81-79 with 34 seconds to go.

Lewis & Clark missed the front end of a one-and-one, but the Boxers could not grab the defensive rebound. The River Otters then went 6-for-6 from the free throw line to seal the victory.

Five Pacific players scored in double figures, highlighted by Brody Baumgartner's double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Vacco led the Boxers with 18 points. Anthony Hrboka had 16 points. Lucas Gray finished with 14 points and Anthony Gehring added 10 points off the bench.

The loss ended Pacific's three-game winning streak and the Boxers dropped to 5-7 in the Northwest Conference.
