Boxers drop four straight to Pacific Lutheran

The Pacific softball team wrapped up its first home series of the 2026 season with a pair of losses to Pacific Lutheran on Sunday, dropping to 3-5 in the Northwest Conference and 8-6 overall.
 
SUNDAY
 
Game 1: Pacific Lutheran 7, Pacific 2
 
Trailing 2-1 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, Kayla Kodani hit an RBI single to left field to get the Boxers within a run. But the Lutes answered with a run in the top of the sixth and four more in the seventh to put the game away.
 
Kodani and Libby Hardee were both 2-for-4 in the loss. Jordan Ingram added an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. 
 
Game 2: Pacific Lutheran 5, Pacific 3
 
Hardee scored on an RBI single by Kimberly Ray to put the Boxers ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. However, Pacific Lutheran responded with three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
 
Pacific rallied in the bottom of the seventh as Ray and Chloe Knepp scored on an RBI double by pinch hitter Caitlyn Gieser. Rylie Kihara then singled to right field to put the go-ahead run at the plate. But the Boxer rally ended there. 
 
Ray finished 3-for-3 with a run and RBI. Hardee was 2-for-3 with two doubles.
 
SATURDAY
 
Game 1: Pacific Lutheran 8, Pacific 6 (9 innings)
 
Knepp opened the series with a grand slam in the bottom of the first inning to give the Boxers a 4-0 lead. But Pacific recorded just two hits and two runs the rest of the game.
 
The Lutes tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the sixth. After Pacific Lutheran took a 6-5 lead in the eighth, Knepp tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run to center field. The Lutes then scored two runs in the ninth inning.
 
Knepp finished 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs, two home runs and five RBIs. Jordan Ingram had the Boxers only other hit of the game on a double to left field in the first inning. Pacific did draw eight walks in the loss.
 
Game 2: Pacific Lutheran 14, Pacific 4
 
Pacific Lutheran jumped on the Boxers early in Game 2, scoring two runs in the first inning and six more in the second to take an 8-0 lead.
 
Pacific battled back as Knepp drove in two more runs on an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning. Kihara then added an RBI double in the fourth. 
 
But the Lutes answered with two runs in the fifth and four in the seventh.
 
Hardee was 2-for-4 with a double, run and RBI. 
 
Next: The Boxers play a doubleheader at the College of Idaho on Tuesday, March 24.
