PORTLAND, Ore. – Trailing by two goals at halftime, the Pacific men's soccer team scored three times in the second half to rally past Lewis & Clark 3-2 on Friday in the Northwest Conference opener for both teams.
The River Otters struck just 1:58 into the match when Dylan Weinstein scored from 35 yards following a Pacific turnover. Lewis & Clark then doubled its advantage in the 34th minute, sending Pacific into halftime trailing 2-0.
The Boxers wasted little time responding after the break. Nico Lomanto put Pacific on the board in the 49th minute, scoring his first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Just over five minutes later, Pacific pulled even. Lomanto delivered a corner kick to the far side of the box, where Trenton Zimmermann headed the ball into the net in the 54th minute.
The comeback was completed in the 72nd minute when Lomanto converted a penalty kick to give the Boxers their first lead of the night. Pacific's defense then held off a late Lewis & Clark push. Goalkeeper Kobi Miyamoto made five saves in the second half to preserve the victory.
The Boxers finished with a 21-11 advantage in shots and put five shots on goal.
