FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Afsheen Alijani scored the equalizer in the 69th minute as the Pacific men's soccer team battled Whitman to a 2-2 draw Sunday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
The Boxers moved to 2-3-3 overall and 2-1-3 in Northwest Conference play.
Whitman, who entered the match 3-0 in the NWC, took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Pacific had a chance to tie the match in the 32nd minute, but Giovanny Adaya-Ortiz's penalty kick was saved. Pacific answered in the 35th minute when Elliott Morgan scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Logan McBride.
After the Blues regained the lead just 3:39 into the second half, Alijani scored his first goal of the season on a throw-in by Parker Levine Scheidegger to pull the Boxers even.
Whitman finished with a 15-6 advantage in shots, including 10-5 in shots on goal. Making his first appearance, freshman Kieran Buell kept Pacific in the match with seven saves. The Boxers earned seven corner kicks to Whitman's five.Â
