SALEM, Ore. –
Afsheen Alijani gave Pacific an early lead with his second goal of the season. But Willamette scored in the second half as the Boxers settled for a 1-1 draw Wednesday in Northwest Conference play.
Alijani put Pacific ahead in the 16th minute, finishing a pass from
Carter Zeiset.Â
The Boxers carried the lead into halftime and continued to create chances in the second half. Cole Affolter recorded three shots on goal, while Alijani added three shots on target.
Willamette tied the match in the 51st minute. Pacific continued to pressure the Willamette defense, outshooting the Bearcats 9-6 in the second half and 15-13 for the match. The Boxers also held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Kobi Miyamoto made five saves for Pacific, including three in the first half, as Pacific moved to 2-3-4 overall and 2-1-4 in NWC play.
Next: The Boxers return home Friday, Oct. 9 to host Linfield at Hanson Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
