TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific men's and women's swim teams combined for 11 event victories, but the host Puget Sound Loggers topped Pacific 120-82 on the men's side and 118-87 on the women's at the Athletics & Aquatics Center.
Pacific started the day with a women's 400-medley relay victory, as
Alissa Frazier (Oregon City, Ore.),
Kayla Knock (Colorado Springs, Colo.),
Rachel Webster (Normandy Park, Wash.) and
Serita Solis (Poulsbo, Wash.) finished with a time of 4:12.66.. The men followed the women up with a second place finish in the same event, posting a time of 3:46.53. Pacific's 400-medley relay men's team was made up of
Aukai Kea (Mililani, Hawaii),
Kevin Quan (Portland, Ore.),
Raymond Miller (Portland, Ore.) and
Derek Dunn (Springfield, Ore.).
In the first individual event of the day, Pacific's
Maggie Stevenson (Corvallis, Ore.) finished third at 12:36.73 in the 1000-freestyle, while
Charles Morse (Forest Grove, Ore.) also posted a third place finish at 10:41.24.
The Boxers' first individual victory of the afternoon was also Solis' first collegiate victory as she swam a 2:08.28 200-freestyle. Miller was Pacific's top finisher in the men's 200-freestyle, finishing second at 1:47.88.
Pacific picked up 13-team points in the men's 50-freestyle as Quan won his first collegiate event, with a time of 22.15 and Dunn finished second at 23.28.
Another first time winner came in the women's 200-IM, where Frazier swam to a 2:16.42 finish.
Michael Sakai (Honolulu, Hawaii) matched his teammate's result in the 200-IM, finishing the race in first at 2:05.03.
Webster earned her first individual victory of the season by nearly five seconds with a 2:19.05 finish in the 200-butterfly, while Sakai won his second event of the day with a 2:01.03 in the same event. Morse finished second in the 200-butterfly for Pacific, swimming to a time of 2:03.11.
Solis became at two-time winner on the day, finishing the 100-freestyle with a time of 56.21. The men's 100-freestyle saw Quan finish first at 49.99.
The 15th event of the afternoon finished with another Frazier win, as she posted a mark of 2:16.87 in the 200-backstroke. On the men's side, Miller picked up third place points with a time of 2:07.37 in the 200-backstroke.
The Boxer men finished first and third in the 500-freestyle, with Morse earning the victory and
Michael Hernandez-Michalski (Salinas, Calif.) swimming to a third place finish. Morse finished with a time of 5:13.16, while Herandez-Michalski finished at 5:21.80.
The final individual event of the day, saw Knock finish second in the 200-breaststroke at 2:36.32, while
Maya Okamura (Pukalani, Hawaii) finished third with a time of 2:42.74. Sakai finished third in the men's 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:23.15.
The day finished with
Stephanie Bultman (Bothell, Wash.),
Callie Hinson (Salem, Ore.),
Lauren McWilliams (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Webster finishing second in the 400-freestyle relay at 3:59.32, while the men's team of Kea, Hernandez-Michalski,
Ben Reich (Sandpoint, Idaho) and
James Michael Sherman (Portland, Ore.) finished third at 3:43.22.
Pacific's next action will come on Friday as the Whitman Blues visit the Forest Grove Aquatic Center, with the first event scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
