PORTLAND — The Pacific men's and women's swimming teams won a combined nine events on Saturday afternoon, including a pair of wins by freshman
Alissa Frazier, but the host Pioneers topped Pacific in both duals.
The Pioneer men topped the Boxers 108-95, while the Pacific women fell to Lewis & Clark 117-85 at Zehntbauer Swimming Pavillion.
Pacific opened the afternoon with victories in the women's and men's 200-medley relay, with the women starting the day with a time of 1:57.76. Pacific's winning women's relay team was made up of:
Alex Winslow (Bend, Ore.), Kalya Knock (Colorado Springs, Colo.),
Stephanie Bultman (Bothell, Wash.) and
Colleen Murphy (Valdez, Alaska).
The Boxers' men's relay team of
Aukai Kea (Mililani, Hawaii),
Kevin Quan (Portland, Ore.),
Michael Sakai (Honolulu, Hawaii) and
Derek Dunn (Springfield, Ore.) were victorious in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:43.30.
Raymond Miller (Portland, Ore.) earned the Boxers the first individual victory of the day with a 1:49.27 finish in the 200-freestyle.
Quan snagged a second-straight victory for the Pacific men as he finished the 50-freestyle in first with a time of 22.54. Dunn and
Woodey Greer (Sandy, Utah) finished third and fifth, respectively, to earn the Boxers 15 total ponts in the event.
Sakai earned a win in the 100-butterfly, out touching his opponents at 55.70.
Miller's second victory came in the 100-freestyle, finishing with a time of 49.14 ahead of the second place finisher who finished with a mark of 52.29.
Frazier (Oregon City, Ore.) earned her first win of the day in the 100-backstroke after touching the wall at 1:01.97. Frazier was victorious in her next event posting a time of 1:10.65 in the 100-breaststroke.
Knock and
Maya Okamura (Pukalani, Hawaii) finished second and fourth, respectively, in the 100-breaststroke behind Frazier.
Quan's second victory of the day was the Boxers' final win at Lewis & Clark as Quan's 1:00.58 won the 100-breaststroke for the junior.
Saturday's meet against Lewis & Clark was the pair of dual meets this season, as Pacific will next hit the pool on February 10-12 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. as part of the Northwest Conference Championships.
