The Pacific University men's and women's swimming teams competed against Lewis & Clark on Saturday at the Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion in Portland.
The men's 200-yard medley relay team of
Aukai Kea,
Hung Huynh,
Reed Charron and
Rayce Houser lowered its season-best time, finishing in 1:53.22. Houser made significant strides of improvement in a pair of events including the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle. He lowered his season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle to a 1:07.43 by 2.63 seconds and 50-yard freestyle to a 28.81 by 1.23 seconds.
Huynh and Charron finished first (4:31.14) and third (4:53.38), respectively to lead the Boxers in the 400-yard individual medley. Plus,
Ethan Hunter also made an improvement on his performance in the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.10). Charron also established a season-best time of 5:40.94 in a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
On the women's side,
Hannah Brandow won the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:01.55 and teammate
Alex Winslow was third in 1:07.90.
Plus, Brandow and
Maya Okamura each posted season-best finishes of 5:02.20 and 5:09.09 in the 400-yard, finishing second and third, respectively.
Julia Crumb was second in the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 5:51.54 and
Lauren McWilliams established a season-best in the 100-yard butterfly with a third-place finish in a time of 1:06.45. Okamura had an improvement of nearly 1.5 seconds with a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.85).
After taking a break for the Thanksgiving holiday, next week, the Boxers are back in action at the Bruin Invite hosted by George Fox on Saturday, Dec. 1.
