Box Score Puget Sound posted a 14-5 win over the Pacific University baseball team on Sunday afternoon in Tacoma.
The Boxers (8-15, 4-11 NWC) got on the board in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead before seven unanswered runs by Puget Sound put the host Loggers ahead for the rest of the contest.

Puget Sound (12-8, 6-6 NWC) had 13 hits in the win including four players with multiple hits. The offense was led by first baseman Mason Quinlan, who hit a pair of home runs with four runs scored and four RBI in the win.

A sacrifice fly by
Dylan Wright plated the first run of the day for Pacific, scoring
Jacob Vice who had led off the game with a walk. An error on a ball hit by
Derek Legeza moved him to third to set the stage for the early lead.

The Loggers sent eight batters to the plate in its half of the first, scoring four times for a 4-1 lead. Then, they added to their lead in the second when Quinlan hit his first of two home runs – a three-run home run for a 7-1 advantage in favor of Puget Sound.

The Boxers plated its second run of the day, capitalizing on another error by Puget Sound to cut the deficit to 7-2 in the third inning. The Loggers came back with three in its half of the third and a solo home run by Quinlan in fourth put Puget Sound ahead 11-2.
Pacific managed to score a run in the sixth and two more in the ninth but draw no closer in the loss. The two runs in the ninth came in on a two-RBI double by
Max Nealon and a RBI single by
Von Ferguson in the sixth accounted for the Boxers' runs.

Next, Pacific will come home to Chuck Bafaro Stadium to host Lewis & Clark for a three-game series. The action gets started with a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 24 at noon.
