FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Pacific Twilight meet returned to Hanson Stadium Friday night after a two-year hiatus and it proved to be a competitive success.
Â
The Boxers only had a small contingent competing at the meet, but did have two improvements on the Boxer top 10 list.Â
Jacob DuVall (Moses Lake, Wash.) missed the school record in the discus throw by just 12 cm with a personal best throw of 47.75m (156-8).Â
Riley Stewart (Forest Grove, Ore.) is now ninth all-time in the 5000 meters as he recorded a time of 15:44.33 in his inaugural attempt at the distance. Both athletes finished second in their respective event.Â
Jason Draper (Novato, Calif.) was the only Boxer to win an event on Friday as he took the men's hammer throw with a mark of 48.84m (160-3). On the women's side,
Karen Du (Santa Clarita, Calif.) finished second in the discus throw (37.50m [123-0]) and
Dianna Church (Bothell, Wash.) finished second in the hammer throw (44.63m [146-5]).Â
Airel Farley (Glide, Ore.) had a 38-second personal best in the 5000 meters (19:42.72).
Â
The Hanson Stadium record was broken in both the men's and women's shot put. David Pless and McKenzie Warren, both competing for Iron Wood TC, had marks of 19.39m (63-7.5) and 17.24m (56-6.75) respectively. Both marks are in the top 25 marks by an American in 2018.
Â
Next week, a small group of athletes will compete at the Oregon Twilight on May 4 and the Linfield Open on May 5.
