How It Happened
Price and Kovaloff opened the scoring in the early minutes with a pair of three-pointers. A driving layup from Gray made it a 10-4 lead to force a Caltech timeout. Pacific came out firing in the first quarter going 8-of-14 from the floor and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Gray knocked down her first three-pointer of the contest to extend the lead in the second period. Buckets from Intong and Price pushed the lead to 15 points as the efficient offensive attack continued. The Boxers would begin to stall as they went scoreless for just over two minutes, however, their defense stepped up and held Caltech to 1-of-12 while forcing three turnovers. The scoring drought would come to an end after a turnaround jumper from Kovaloff and a triple from Price allowed Pacific to jump out to a 34-16 lead at the break.
It was Gray who caught fire in the third quarter, hitting back-to-back threes to get herself into double figures. Two more three-pointers courtesy of Price and Holsan followed by four straight points from Intong created a 30-point lead for the hosts, their largest of the game.
Lindsay Barden saw her first collegiate action in the fourth quarter and also tallied her first career points with an impressive running layup. A short spurt from the Beavers cut the deficit to 25 points but
Madison Dunlop buried a three-pointer to put the game out of reach. The Boxers earned the 74-49 win to improve to 4-0 on the season.
