FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific women's basketball concluded the non-conference season with a 59-50 win over Alma.

The Boxers and Scots played an even first half before the hosts were able to pull away in the second half. Pacific used an efficient 60% shooting from behind the arc in the fourth quarter to put the finishing touches on the win.

  • Alexis Intong played the post position in textbook fashion scoring 12 points and collecting eight rebounds.
  • Sydney Gray was the Boxers defensive stopper recording a career high in both rebounds with eight and blocks with three.

How It Happened

The Boxers opened up the game on a 17-10 run over the first seven minutes of the opening quarter. With only two converted baskets over the final two minutes the Boxers took a 19-12 lead into the quarter break.

The Scots were able to close the seven-point lead after they forced the Boxers to shoot 22% from the floor in the second quarter. Going into the locker room at the halftime break the visitors from Michigan held a 31-29 lead.

The third quarter began slowly for both sides as there was no converted shot attempts during through the first four minutes. Danica Schmidt was able to end the scoreless drought with a converted layup following and open floor steal. The Boxers scored with 1:28 remaining in the half which gave them a 42-41 lead headed into the final quarter of play.

It was all the red and black in the closing quarter who opened the game up with an 11-point lead in the first five minutes of the quarter. Williams put the final touches on the 59-50 win knocking down a three pointer with 1:29 remaining.
