TACOMA, Wash. – Pacific men's basketball dropped a game Saturday evening to Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma by a score of 90-76.
The Lutes were able to win wire-to-wire using a high level of efficiency from the floor 59% compared to the Boxers who shot 36%.
Top Performers
- Truman Young led the Boxers in scoring with 15 points while nine of those came from behind the arc.
- Lucas Winkler handed out a team high 6 assists as well as 5 steals
- Ethan Chung and Jacob Bolger each were responsible for 14 points and one block.
How It Happened
Pacific Lutheran was able to take control from the opening tip going on a 13-7 run over the first three minutes and change. The Boxers responded tightening the deficit to four before the Lutes went on another run to open a 36-21 lead at the 8:29 mark. Pacific was never able to shrink the deficit inside single digits for the remainder of the half as they trailed 51-40 at the intermission.
The two teams traded buckets to open the second half with the Boxers fighting to not let the game get out of reach. Midway through the final period the Red and Black closed the deficit to single digits. Like previously, PLU was able to respond with a scoring run that opened a 19-point lead which seemingly put the game out of reach for good. The Lutes were able to never relinquish their double-digit lead as they coasted to the 90-76 win.
