Blues Hand Boxers First Northwest Conference Loss

Whitman uses multiple scoring runs in the second half to pull away.

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Pacific men's basketball dropped a closely contested contest Friday night 79-69 at Whitman.
 
The Boxers were able to create 22 points off of 16 turnovers by the Blues. The hosts had an efficient night from the floor shooting 50% from the field while also getting to the charity stripe 18 times.

How It Happened
 
The first 14 minutes of the contest were closely contested with neither team having a lead greater than four. Both teams struggled to get going on the offensive end with score being 31-27 with 6:04 remaining in the first half. The teams would have what seemed to have matching possessions for the remainder of the first half. When both teams left the floor for the halftime break the Blues held a 39-37 lead.
 
The Blues came out dominate in the second half on a 15-2 scoring run when the under 16-minute media timeout occurred. Over the next four minutes, the visitors battled back on their own scoring run (12-2) `to make it a two-possession lead for the Blues. Whitman never relinquished the lead the in second half as they pulled away to a 79-69 NWC win.
