Boxers Fall in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. – Pacific men's basketball dropped their second consecutive contest on Saturday with a 91-48 loss to Whitworth.

The Pirates were able to run away with the contest after keeping the Boxers to a season low 18 points in the first half. Whitworth used an efficient night from the floor shooting 54.7% compared to the Boxers 36.8%.

Top Performers
  • Dimitri Cohen had an efficient night from the floor going 4-5 on his way to 10 points.
  • Lucas Winkler collected a team high five rebounds.

How It Happened

Whitworth opened up the scoring 58 seconds into the contest and never relinquished the lead from there. Over the first 11 minutes of the half, the Pirates went on a 22-5 run that was slowed down following a Truman Young three as well as a jumper by Isaiah Africano on the ensuing possession. The Boxers would get the deficit down to 11 points before Whitworth closed out the half on an 18-3 run.

The second half would be more of the same as the host Pirates were able to respond to any offensive run the Boxers had attempted. Whitworth was able to put the game away for good as they produced a 27-2 run in the second half on the way to the 91-48 win.
