Pacific put up 52 points in the second half to run away with an 84-60 victory over Evergreen State Saturday night.
Â
But head coach
Justin Lunt was most happy with the Boxers defense.
Â
"It all started with our defense," Lunt said. "I thought we did a really good job of getting stops to set the tone in the second half. And then we did what we're capable of doing, which is knock down shots."
Â
Tied 32-32 at halftime, Pacific opened the second half on a 14-0 run to take control of the game. The Boxers went 9-for-17 from the 3-point arc in the second half.Â
Â
Lucas Winkler had 24 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals to lead Pacific. The junior point guard was 9-for-13 from the field.Â
Â
"Everything starts with Luke," Lunt said. "He rose to the occasion tonight. He was in go mode and that's an All-American stat line tonight. When he's aggressive, we're pretty good."
Â
Drew Gumin was 5-for-6 from 3 and finished with 17 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Jake Blazona added 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists.Â
Â
The Boxers out-rebounded Evergreen State 50-35 and had 19 assists to only nine by the Geoducks.Â
Â
"I think our guys had a mentality of bouncing back," Lunt said. "They knew last night (an 83-64 loss to Oglethorpe) was unacceptable and I'm very proud of their resiliency and togetherness. They came out poised tonight and did a great job."
Â
Next, Pacific hosts Portland Bible on Friday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. in the Schumann Classic. Â
