Boxers enter new year on winning streak

Pacific will enter 2024 on a three-game winning streak,

The Boxers won 81-70 Saturday night at Walla Walla University.

Pacific opened the game on a 12-2 run and led 32-26 at halftime. But Walla Walla took a 41-36 lead with 15:23 remaining in the second half.

Trailing 53-51 with 9:58 to go, the Boxers answered with an 16-2 run to take control of the game. 

Lucas Gray finished with 18 points, five assists and three rebounds off the bench to lead Pacific. Jake Blazona had 15 points, four rebounds and seven steals. 

Five different Pacific players scored in double digits. Devin Fortune recorded a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Zachary Bates had 12 points and Truman Young added 11 points in the victory.

The Boxers scored 34 points off of Walla Walla turnovers.

Next, Pacific plays its first Northwest Conference home game of the season on Friday, Jan. 5 against Puget Sound.
