FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific men's basketball dropped their sixth straight contest on Friday against the first place Whitman Blues, 79-67.
The Blues used a 43-point second half to put the Boxers away. They also found success at the free throw line going 14-16 in the contest.
Top Performers
- Lucas Winkler handed out a team high five assists while also scoring 22 points on 6-11 shooting.
- Jared Cattell was 4-7 from beyond the arc on his way to 14 points.
How It Happened
The two teams played a relatively even opening three minutes trading buckets on the offensive end. Whitman was able up an eight-point lead over the next three minutes. The Boxers were able to respond with their own 8-0 run to tie the game at 16 with 11:45 remaining. The two teams would again trade buckets on the offensive end before the Boxers regained the lead following an
Antoine Stitt three-point field goal with 6:22 remaining in the half. The Boxers held the lead until the 3:39 mark before the Blues closed the opening half on a 10-5 run to take a 36-33 lead into the halftime break.
Whitman came out quick in the second half opening up a 10-point lead over the first three minutes and 15 seconds of the half. With 13:44 remaining in the contest,
Jared Cattell knocked down a three-point field goal to pull within one possession. Whitman however would never relinquish the lead from their as they pulled away to the 79-67 win.
Up Next
Pacific returns to action next Friday with an 8 P.M. tipoff against Willamette. The Boxers earned a victory in the previous meeting of those same teams this season.
