FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific men's basketball suffered a defeat on Friday night, 90-74 against the visiting Whitworth Pirates.
The Pirates bench played a big role in the win with 56 of the teams' points coming from non-starters. They used an efficient second half from behind the arc to pull away and seal the victory inside the Stoller center.

- Jacob Bolger led the Boxers on the offensive end with 20 points.
- Drew Gumin had a career high 12 points with all 12 coming from a perfect performance behind the three-point arc.
- Lucas Winkler pulled down eight rebounds and handed out seven assists in the loss.
How It Happened
Whitworth was able to open a 7-2 lead over the first two minutes of the opening half. They continued to stretch their lead as they went up 12-4 before
Antoine Stitt responded with a three-point field goal with 15:05 remaining. Pacific was able to battle back and take their first lead of the game, 27-26 with 4:16 remaining. The hosts held a 30-28 lead before Whitworth closed out the opening half on an 10-0 run over the final three minutes to take a 38-30 lead into halftime.
The Boxers hit a few three pointers over the first four minutes of the second half in order to not let the lead get out of reach. Following a split pair of free throws with 8:34 remaining, the Boxers had narrowed their deficit to two, 58-56. Whitworth however was able to put the game out of hand with a seven-minute 27-9 run on their way to the 90-74 win.
