TACOMA -- Seeking its first Northwest Conference road win, Pacific went into halftime with an eight-point lead. But the Boxers could not slow down Pacific Lutheran in the second half, ultimately falling 79-67 Saturday night.
The Lutes scored 54 points and shot 62 percent from the field in the second half. Pacific Lutheran also cleaned up at the free throw line, making 14 of 17 attempts.Â
The Boxers led by one point, 49-48, with 9:12 remaining in the game. However, Pacific Lutheran went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good. The Lutes stretched their lead to as many as 14 points, 68-54, with 4:08 to go.
Pacific shot just 32 percent from the field in the second half.
Drew Gumin had 12 points and three rebounds to lead the Boxers.
Lucas Gray finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
Zachary Bates added nine points and four rebounds in the loss.
Next, Pacific (8-7, 2-4) plays at Linfield on Friday, Jan. 19.Â
