TACOMA, Wash. -- Coming out of the bye, Pacific did not start strong.
But the Boxers responded by dominating the second half on their way to a 62-34 win at Puget Sound.
Trailing by two touchdowns late in the second quarter, Pacific went 55 yards on three plays in 42 seconds to get within a score, 34-27, at halftime. The Boxers then outscored the Loggers 35-0 in the second half to run away with the Northwest Conference victory.
Pacific running back
Brody Bantolina continued his dynamic junior season, rushing for 215 yards and three touchdowns, including a 97-yard run for the final score of the game with 3:37 remaining.Â
Kalai Pasi had 61 yards and three touchdowns as the Boxers finished with 288 yards on the ground.
Quarterback
Braeden Titus completed 6 of 13 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown.
Josiah Chaffin caught two passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Zion Booker's 72-yard punt return for a touchdown gave Pacific its first lead, 40-34, with 8:34 remaining in the third quarter.
Puget Sound, who finished with 525 total yards on 100 plays, scored on its first five possessions before getting shut out in the second half.Â
Pacific, who had 498 total yards, averaged 11.3 yards per play.Â
Sophomore
Anthony Lopez recorded 11 tackles to lead the Boxer defense. Booker and
Avin Tanioka each had eight tackles.Â
Pacific has won eight straight against Puget Sound. At 3-1, the Boxers have already bested last season's win total.
Next: Pacific will celebrate homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 12 against Pacific Lutheran (2-2).
