Sluggish third quarter dooms Boxers versus Texas Lutheran

Pacific went into halftime tied and outscored Texas Lutheran by six points in the fourth quarter. But the Boxers could not overcome a sloppy third quarter, resulting in a 69-60 loss Monday afternoon at home in the Stoller Center.

The Bulldogs, who are 3-0 against the Northwest Conference this season with wins over Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound, outscored Pacific 25-10 in the third period to take control of the game.

Trailing 61-44 with 6:56 remaining, the Boxers responded with a 12-0 run to get within five points, 61-56, with 2:47 to go. However, that's as close as Pacific would get as Texas Lutheran scored seven straight points to stretch its lead back to double digits.

The Boxers got 30 points from its bench. Anya Henderson led the unit with 11 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Emily Holsan had nine points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Pacific shot just 28.1 percent from 3, making 9 of 32 attempts.

Next: The Boxers host Hardin-Simmons on Wednesday at 3 p.m. back inside the Stoller Center.
