Pacific will enter next week's Northwest Conference women's basketball tournament on a three-game winning streak.
The Boxers easily defeated Linfield 70-52 Saturday night inside the Stoller Center to finish the regular season 16-8 overall and 12-4 in the NWC.Â
After Pacific raced out to a 15-2 lead, the Wildcats battled back and even took a 19-18 advantage on a layup with four seconds remaining in the first period.
However, the Boxers answered with an 8-0 run to begin the second quarter and never trailed again.
Fifth-year seniors
Brilie Kovaloff and
Sydney Gray, both playing their final home game, led Pacific, each finishing with 11 points and four rebounds. Another fifth-year senior,
Rilee Price, had 10 points and three steals. Senior
Taya McCallum added nine points and two rebounds.
The Boxers shot 44.3 percent from the field.
Next, Pacific will travel to Willamette in Salem for the NWC tournament. As the No. 2 seed, the Boxers will play No. 3 Whitman Friday at 6 p.m. No. 1 Willamette will play No. 4 Puget Sound in the other semifinal at 8 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m.
