SALEM, Ore. -- For the third straight season, Pacific will play for the Northwest Conference women's basketball championship.
The Boxers defeated defending champion Whitman 58-46 Friday night at Willamette in the semifinals of the NWC tournament.
Rilee Price scored 13 points to lead Pacific in the win.
Brilie Kovaloff finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
Alexis Intong added five points and 10 rebounds.Â
The Boxers never trailed in the game, racing out a 13-2 lead as Whitman made just 1 of 16 field goals in the first quarter.
Pacific then opened the second period on a 6-0 run to take a 19-2 advantage with 5:32 remaining in the first half.Â
Shaade Williams, who scored eight points in the first half, then knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Boxers a 24-4 lead with 3:41 left to play.
The Blues closed the second quarter on a 9-2 run to get within 13 points, 26-13, at halftime. But Pacific continued to lead by double digits for the entire second half.Â
Next, the Boxers will play Puget Sound Saturday at 6 p.m. for the NWC championship. The two teams split during the regular season with Pacific winning 55-44 on Jan. 5 and Puget Sound winning 54-45 on Feb. 3. The Loggers defeated Willamette 70-50 in the semifinals.Â
