Pacific needed only two pitchers and allowed just three runs over 14 innings to sweep Corban Sunday at Sherman/Larkins Stadium in Forest Grove.
After winning game one 6-3, Pacific shut out the Warriors 4-0 in game two to complete the sweep.
Game 1
After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the Boxers quickly answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Michelle Winfield led off the inning with a single to center field, stole second and third base and then scored on an infield error.
Kayla Kodani then scored the tying run on a RBI single to left field by
Chloe Knepp.
Trailing 3-2, Pacific took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. After pinch runner
Ryanne Yoshimura scored on a Knepp RBI double to left field, Winfield drew a bases loaded walk to score Knepp and put the Boxers on top 4-3.
Pacific added one run in the fifth inning and another insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Knepp was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Winfield went 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and two stolen bases.Â
Haleigh Colfelt (1-0) pitched all seven innings, allowing two hits, a walk and three runs.Â
Game 2
Pacific scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and that's all starting pitcher
Karlie Espinoza needed. The freshman allowed just one hit and two walks with three strikeouts over seven scoreless innings to earn the win.Â
Winfield was 1-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases and two runs.
Kimberly Ray had an RBI double in the victory.
Next, the Boxers open Northwest Conference play at Puget Sound on March 9-10.Â
