Boxers drop two games to SUNY Oneonta

Pacific grabbed the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning of game two. But two costly infield errors in the top of the seventh led to three runs as SUNY Oneonta took two games from the Boxers, 4-2 and 5-3, Wednesday evening at Sherman/Larkins Stadium in Forest Grove.

Game 1

Pacific tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Rylie Kihara RBI double to left field, scoring Kayla Kodani from second base.

However, the visiting Red Dragons scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth and added an insurance run in the seven inning.

Kodani finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Faith Lawson also went 2-for-3 with an RBI single. Chloe Knepp was 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and run scored.

Karlie Espinoza pitched all seven innings, allowing seven hits and four runs with three strikeouts.

Game 2

Tied 2-2, Lawson scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single by Michelle Winfield with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

However, SUNY Oneonta answered with three runs in the top of the seventh, taking advantage of two Pacific errors.

The Boxers loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Red Dragons pitcher Angelina Scalere recorded a strikeout to end the game.

In the circle, Haleigh Colfelt pitched six innings of relief, allowing eight hits and two earned runs.

At the plate, Winfield was 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run and RBI. Kimberly Ray went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Kodani was also 2-for-4.
