Boxers rebound to even series with Puget Sound

TACOMA, Wash. -- After falling 12-8 in game three, Pacific regrouped to win game four 14-5 Saturday at Puget Sound to even the four-game series.

Game 3

One bad inning was the difference in game three. Tied 5-5, the Loggers scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to run away with the win. The frame could have been even worse for the Boxers as Puget Sound left the bases loaded.

Trying to rally, Pacific scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

At the plate, Kayla Kodani was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases. Michelle Winfield went 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and two stolen bases. Faith Lawson had a double and two RBIs. Ava Hlavacek added two runs and two RBIs.

Game 4

Pacific's offense exploded with six runs in the top of the third inning to take control of game four. The Boxers added three more runs in the fifth and the sixth to run-rule Puget Sound in six innings.

Karlie Espinoza pitched all six innings to earn the win in the circle. The Pacific freshman allowed seven hits and five runs.

At the plate, Savannah Roddey went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Kimberly Ray was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Kodani went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBIs and four stolen bases. Winfield finished 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base.

Next, the Boxers return home to host Oneonta Wednesday in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
