Pacific will certainly enter the bye week with momentum.
Behind a dominant second half, the Boxers defeated visiting Pomona-Pitzer 45-14 Saturday night at Hanson Stadium.
Pacific, which had forced eight turnovers in the first two games, got an interception from senior safety
Zion Booker on Pomona-Pitzer's first possession of the game.
After Booker returned the interception 66 yards to the Sagehen 10-yard line, senior quarterback
Braeden Titus and
Riley Camarillo connected for an 8-yard touchdown to give the Boxers a quick 7-0 lead.
Nehemiah Faleulu then forced a fumble on the kickoff. After
Noah Narain recovered the football at the Pomona-Pitzer 40-yard line,
Brody Bantolina capped off a six-play scoring drive with a 9-yard touchdown run to give Pacific a 14-0 lead with 7:49 remaining in the first quarter.
Jackson Green added a 34-yard field goal in the second quarter. Titus then found
Josiah Chaffin for a four-yard touchdown to give the Boxers a 24-14 lead at halftime.
Pacific's defense shut out the Sagehens in the second half, forcing five straight punts.
Titus, who completed 25 of 34 passes for 370 yards and four touchdowns, connected with Chaffin for a 76-yard touchdown with 53 seconds remaining in the third quarter to stretch the Boxers lead to 38-14.
"I thought
Braeden Titus played his best game ever as a Pacific Boxer," Falconer said. "Teams are going to try to stop No. 9 (Bantolina). They're going to put one more player in the box and they're going to challenge you to throw the football and it's great to see Braeden respond. And it's not just Braeden. It's the receivers. It was by committee. A bunch of guys made plays and we were efficient, too, and were able to keep the chains moving."
The Boxers finished with 503 yards of total offense.
Chaffin had six receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
Riley Camarillo caught five passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns.
Bantolina rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Alex Villarreal recorded five tackles to lead Pacific's defense. Booker had four tackles and two interceptions.
Green was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points.
