After missing two games with a concussion, Pacific senior
Devin Fortune returned Friday with a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Boxers to a 77-62 Northwest Conference victory over Willamette.
Playing in front of the home crowd, Pacific got off to a slow start against a Bearcats squad seeking its first conference win.
The Boxers trailed 21-6 with 9:43 remaining in the first half. But Pacific got within four points, 33-29, at halftime and then took its first lead of the game, 35-33, on a
Lucas Winkler 3-pointer with 17:50 remaining in the second half.
The Boxers led the rest of the way, stretching its advantage to double digits, 66-54, with 5:01 to go.
Winkler finished with 11 points, six assists, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Jake Blazona had 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Lucas Gray added 10 points off the bench.
After missing all six 3-point attempts in the first half and shooting 37.14 percent overall, Pacific went 5-for-12 from 3 in the second half and shot 53.13 percent.
The Boxers improved to 4-3 in the NWC while Willamette dropped to 0-7.
Next: Pacific travels to Tacoma to play at Pacific Lutheran on Saturday at 4 p.m.
