Boxers struggle offensively in loss at Pacific Lutheran

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Pacific men's basketball team overcame a sluggish first half to get within five points of Pacific Lutheran with 12:17 remaining.

But the Lutes answered with a 13-2 run to defeat the Boxers 77-60 Saturday afternoon at Pacific Lutheran. 

The Lutes outscored Pacific 14-4 in the last 5:22 of the first half to take a 38-25 lead into halftime. 

The 25 points is the fewest the Boxers have scored in a half in conference play this season. 

Pacific senior Lucas Winkler had 16 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals to lead the Boxers.

Drew Gumin posted 11 points, four rebounds and three steals. Devin Fortune added 10 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Pacific dropped to 4-4 in the Northwest Conference with the loss. 

Next: The Boxers host Lewis & Clark on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
