Boxer men smash school record on Day 1 of Pacific Invitational

NORTH PLAINS -- The Pacific men's golf team opened the Pacific Invitational with a record-breaking performance.

The Boxers carded a 284 at Pumpkin Ridge on Saturday, shattering the previous school record of 291, set at Quail Valley in 2009.

With four birdies on the back nine, junior Ryan Murray shot a career-best 68 to lead Pacific. Junior Benjamin Korach fired a 69 and freshman Alex Lustig carded a 71.

Entering Sunday, Pacific sits in fourth place out of 13 teams and just seven shots behind first-place Willamette.

Freshman leads Boxer women

The Pacific women are also in fourth place after day one, thanks to a standout performance from freshman Mielle Kavran.

Behind four birdies, Kavran shot a 77 on Saturday at Pumpkin Ridge.

Sophomore Cassidy Tanoue fired an 80 while junior Bead Boonta and freshman Brynn Yonemori both carded an 85.
