NORTH PLAINS -- The Pacific men's golf team opened the Pacific Invitational with a record-breaking performance.
The Boxers carded a 284 at Pumpkin Ridge on Saturday, shattering the previous school record of 291, set at Quail Valley in 2009.
With four birdies on the back nine, junior
Ryan Murray shot a career-best 68 to lead Pacific. Junior
Benjamin Korach fired a 69 and freshman
Alex Lustig carded a 71.
Entering Sunday, Pacific sits in fourth place out of 13 teams and just seven shots behind first-place Willamette.
Freshman leads Boxer women
The Pacific women are also in fourth place after day one, thanks to a standout performance from freshman
Mielle Kavran.
Behind four birdies, Kavran shot a 77 on Saturday at Pumpkin Ridge.
Sophomore
Cassidy Tanoue fired an 80 while junior
Bead Boonta and freshman
Brynn Yonemori both carded an 85.
