SEATTLE, Wash. – Ally Hammond needed only one meet to add to the Pacific track and field record book.

Competing in the 2026 University of Washington Indoor Preview, the senior broke her own program record in the 200-meter run, finishing third Saturday in 24.60 seconds, improving on her previous time of 25.13. 

Hammond also finished runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.61 seconds. 

Pacific sophomore Mikell Adler just missed qualifying for finals in the men's 60 hurdles, finishing ninth in prelims in 8.63. 

Graduate student Josie Lavato made her Pacific debut with an impressive showing in the 60-meter run, finishing with a career-best opening time of 8.11 and landing herself in the second spot on the Pacific All-Time list. Senior Kamron Shields opened his season with an indoor personal record of 22.61 in the men's 200, moving himself to the fourth spot on Pacific's All-Time List.

"I am extremely proud of the group that opened their season at Dempsey" said head track and field coach Ryan Huntersimms. "Opening the season with personal bests, top-10 marks, and career-best season openers is impressive, especially considering we are still in a heavy training period. I'm looking forward to seeing the progression throughout the rest of the season and watching the rest of our squad open up this weekend."

Next: The Boxers will compete at the University of Portland on Sunday, Jan. 25.
