Boxers fall at George Fox in overtime

NEWBERG, Ore. – Down six points with under 2 minutes remaining, the Pacific men's basketball team rallied to force overtime.

But the Boxers could not come away with the Northwest Conference road victory, falling 111-107 Tuesday night at George Fox in a game that featured 11 ties and 16 lead changes.

Trailing 96-88 with 3:07 to go, Pacific responded with a 12-0 run. The Boxers tied the game at 96-96 on back-to-back 3 pointers by Anthony Hrboka and Anthony Gehring. Free throws by Lucas Gray and Max Vacco then put Pacific on top 100-96 with 25 seconds left to play. But the Boxers missed two game-clinching free throws and George Fox took advantage by scoring the game-tying basket with 6 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.

Tied 105-105, the Bruins grabbed the lead for a good on a layup with 1:42 remaining in overtime.

Gehring had a career-high 23 points, four rebounds and three assists. Ryder Mackay recorded a double-double of 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Hrboka finished with 22 points. Brody Baumgartner added 13 points and six rebounds. Gray filled up the stat sheet with 10 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals. Vacco finished with nine points, 11 assists, five rebounds and three steals.

The 107 points are the most the Boxers have scored in a conference game since defeating George Fox 112-98 in the spring of 2021.

The win was George Fox's first in conference play and also snapped an 11-game losing streak. Pacific dropped to 2-5 in the NWC.
