The Pacific men and women's track teams competed in the University of Portland Indoor #1 meet on Sunday, participating in the 200-meter, 600, 800, and mile races. It was a strong start for the team, as more top ten performances were seen.
Top Performers
Freshman
Zaccarius Barnett-Grizzell started the day strong, finishing third overall in the men's 200 race in a time of 23.33 seconds. This was his first race as a Boxer and he posted the sixth best time for the indoor men's 200 in school history.
Senior
Courtney Tiernan ran a solid 600 race with a time of 1:52.24, an unconventional distance as she ran the fourth best time all-time for Pacific. Sophomores
Lauren Ortega and
Ananda O'Neill also landed themselves on the All-Time Top 10 list for the women's and men's 800 races, both taking the seventh spot of the list with times of 2:29.93 and 2:05.55 respectively.
The day ended with the mile race. Junior Morgan Boddy finished ninth in a time of 5:27.82, the seventh fastest all-time Pacific.
"We had a lot of solid performances today," said head coach Ryan Huntersimms. "We are very pleased with this rust buster as a coaching staff. We're excited to have some fun next weekend in Spokane and carry this success forward."
