Boxers split doubleheader at Willamette, end losing streak

SALEM – The Pacific softball team defeated Willamette 4-1 on Saturday to snap a nine-game losing streak. The Game 2 victory came after the Boxers narrowly dropped the opener of the doubleheader, 6-5.

Game 1: Willamette 6, Pacific 5

Pacific scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-5, but the Bearcats answered with a run in the bottom half to walk off with the 6-5 victory.

With one out in the seventh, Ava Hlavacek sparked the rally with a double to left field. With two outs, Kayla Kodani drove in Rylie Kihara and Amelie Arroyo with a double to left-center field, then came around to score the game-tying run on an RBI single by Jordan Ingram.

Willamette loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh and won the game on a single to center field.

Ingram finished 3-for-4 with a run, an RBI, and a stolen base.
