Pacific's postseason streak ends with narrow loss at George Fox

NEWBERG – All good things must come to an end.

After qualifying for the Northwest Conference postseason tournament for 14 straight years, the Pacific men's tennis team came up just short Sunday.

Needing a win to continue the streak, the Boxers fell 4-3 at George Fox.

All three of Pacific's points came in singles play. Alexander Kinoshita won 7-6, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Ryley Chang captured the No. 5 singles point, winning the third-set tiebreaker 10-7, and Lucas Fuhrmann won 7-5, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.

The Bruins captured the final spot in the four-team tournament along with NWC regular-season champion Whitman, No. 2 seed Whitworth and No. 3 seed Lewis & Clark.

Pacific edged Lewis & Clark 4-3 on Saturday to remain in the hunt.

The Boxers finished fifth in the final NWC standings with a 7-7 record.
