All tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, George Fox intentionally loaded the bases to pitch to Ava Hlavacek.
Big mistake.
The Pacific junior delivered a walk-off RBI single to left field as the Boxers secured a 5-4 Northwest Conference victory Saturday at Sherman/Larkins Stadium.
Pacific split the senior day doubleheader.Â
Game 1: George Fox 10, Pacific 3
The Boxers struck first as Kimberly Ray drove home pinch-runner Alyssa Mateo with a ground ball to third base. However, George Fox answered with four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.Â
Pacific pitcher Alissa Hermansen no-hit the Bruins through the first four innings.
Senior Kayla Kodani went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Senior Samantha Madsen finished 2-for-3. Hlavacek went 1-for-3 with a double and scored a run.
Game 2: Pacific 5, George Fox 4 (8 innings)
The Boxers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, but George Fox responded with three runs in the fourth and one more in the sixth to force extra innings.
Jordan Ingram led off the eighth with a single to left field. After Libby Hardee's sacrifice bunt moved pinch-runner Mateo to second, Chloe Knepp drew a walk. The Bruins then intentionally walked Kimberly Ray to load the bases for Hlavacek.
In the circle, Pacific junior Kiara Baba pitched all eight innings, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out 10.
