ResultsTHOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — The Pacific men's tennis team kicked off their southern California road trip in emphatic fashion with a 8-1 victory over California Lutheran on Saturday at the Poulson Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Boxers moved to 11-2 on the season. CLU dropped to 2-9.
Pacific's only loss came at the No. 1 singles position. There,
Brennan Faith dropped a battle to CLU's Gio Valdez, 2-6, 6-3, 10-5.
But the rest of the courts belonged to the Boxers. Faith teamed with
Clark Wininger to triumph at No. 1 doubles, 8-4. On the other two courts, Pacific also won by the same 8-4 scores, with
Oscar Wight and
Chris Dalton taking care of business at No. 2 and
Reuben Mulhern and
Josh Bernstein winning at No. 3.
Wininger also won at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-0) while Wight outlasted Jesper Lunding-Johansson on court three, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). Mulhern won at No. 4 (6-4, 6-3), with Dalton cruising on court five (6-1, 6-2), Bernstein the same on court six (6-2, 6-4).
The Boxers will continue their four-game swing in southern California on Saturday, taking on Occidental at 4 p.m. The match will be played in Glendale at the Scholl Canyon Golf and Tennis Club. These four dates are the first outdoor matches of the season for the Boxers.
